Have an Awesome Camping Trip with Dad in Camo Boots

camo bootsI’m the father of an eight year old named Joel, and I’ll share this awesome bonding time I had with my son and his new DIY boots.

Last summer, my son and I did something that men enjoy doing- an important father and son activity that creates stronger bonds between family members.

We went camping.

When I told him we could bring his MyDesign create your own boots kit during the trip, he was so excited. He jumped into her mother’s arms and told her all about the exciting things we’ll do on our trip, including painting the boots!

We built our own camp and tent. Joel really enjoyed making the bonfire with me. But, I had him promise me one thing first – something his mom reminded over and over. I had to make sure that Joel’s feet are protected all the time. His mom is going to get really upset – with me, mostly – if he hurts himself.

So I got my son these magic paintable boots. I was thinking about painting them with camouflage designs because it suits the activity. I told my son that he can paint on them and since we were going camping, I suggested that he paint the footwear with the animals we’re going to see on the camping grounds. He even painted the trees and our camp on these boots! And the next best thing was that the paint could be erased! He can draw dogs on the shoes on the first day, and he can paint the owls on the following day. He can even draw our happy faces! It was so much fun.

Aside from being a great canvas for flexing my son’s creative muscles, these paintable boots can protect his feet really well. Joel can run and jump around on the slightly rough camping ground without experiencing any major discomfort in his feet. They’re really sturdy and he can use them again and again, even when doing different outdoor activities! I loved seeing him wearing those boots on our trip. I even used my combat shoes to match his boots!

The magic paintable shoes are waterproof so Joel wore them while playing in the lake beside our camp. The boots lasted longer than we expected. We didn’t take a lot of pictures during the camping trip, but all the fun memories can be seen in my son’s paintable shoes.
